Maplelawn Garden’s Plant Inventory List, as accurately as possible, reflects the plants currently in and/or originally in the Garden. The selection of these plants is based on a number of other historical and developmental documents, in addition to necessary changes/additions since 1993:
  • Warren Oliver’s original 1936 plan for the external beds (a mixture of Scientific and Common Names, sometimes non-specific with regards to variety)
  • Johann Latremouille's plan  (NCC, 1997)  for quadrant beds inspired by the original Oliver plan
  • As Found Lists: (1985,1994) which included many unnamed plants, possibly added by members of the families
  • Replacements: Changing growing conditions, winter kill and disease have made occasional plant replacements a necessity. When possible, the same species and variety are replanted. When the variety is unknown or unavailable, or soil borne disease remains a concern, replacements have been made taking into consideration the leaf shape, plant height and colour and blooming time of the original.

This document is currently an online interactive work product. Undergoing revisions on an ongoing basis, there may be, from time to time, some errors in nomenclature, spelling and/or plant photo identification, horticultural advice.
